This past Thursday, September 13th, 2007 The world lost another wonderful soul. The world knew her as “Kat”, or Katherine. We knew her as Nan.

Nan was born Katherine Luise Simmons on May 23rd 1929 in Lester Arkansas. She and her family moved to California during the Dust Bowl, and eventually settled in Sonoma, California. In her life she survived two husbands and two of three daughters. She lost her own fight with cancer last week at the age of 78.

I’m not one for long goodbyes. I believe in remembering the good and focusing on the now. My little version of a tribute is the most fitting I can come up with myself, and I almost couldn’t part with it. That tribute is a recipe, which will follow this entry.

I love you, lady, I hope you’ve found the happiness you always wanted.
